set_up

Set-Up Description

Figure shows the general arrangement for carrying out the experiment.
A rod is supported on two points by means of a set of strings of equal length on the main frame. The distance between the strings, and the length of the strings can be varied. It is assumed that the centre of gravity of the rod is exactly at the middle of the two strings ( i.e., it is symmetrically positioned with respect to the strings).

Procedure for calculating time period:

  1. Enter the values in Calculate Result tab.
  2. Press the Calculate button.

Procedure for performing Practical:

  1. Support the rod by means of two strings onto the main frame.
  2. Adjust the length of the rod, the distance between the strings, and the string length as desired.
  3. Allow the bar to oscillate in the plane containing the rod (horizontal plane) for a specific number of oscillations, and find the time period of vibration.

  5. Enter the values in Compare Results tab.
  6. Press Verify.
